ARGOS Engineering, in partnership with other companies such as Centro Sviluppo Progettazione Ricerca ed Attività Industriali Calamai e Agresti s.r.l, Filoni srl, Cabel Costruzioni Elettroniche srl, took part in the VIP Project funded by the Region of Tuscany under the POR FESR 2007-2013 Creo Axis 1 Bando Unico Research & Development.
VIP is a vehicle designed to be used mainly in urban environment, thought for car-sharing, fully supported electronically and suitable for public management. The VIP fleet will be available in multiple configurations to fit various types of passenger flows. The entire fleet is equipped with a platform for the boarding of passengers with disabilities.
The design of the vehicle was developed in collaboration with the industrial design studio LUIS CHOMIAK and DAVID GORDON with whom we are developing many other railway projects. On this vehicle are merged all the experiences gained in these collaborations.
The ambition of the VIP Project is to create a new model of individual and small groups of people mobility, encouraging the use of mass mobility (Plane, Train, Subway, Bus) which concentrates passenger flows in the surrounding areas to town centers but without limiting freedom of displacement of the individual or group, so that to use the means of urban transport only when it is really essential.
Main objectives of this Project:
- Fleet reduction and better use of the vehicle, in particular in urban areas.
- Reduce air pollution and noise
- Increase in urban spaces available
- Less exploitation of natural resources.
- Effective savings in the family budget.
